Here’s what the book is about.

Amelia is devastated after her father’s death. England holds a special place in her heart. Her new guardian, an American uncle, has ordered her to pack. Her uncle agrees to give her four weeks to settle her affairs, and then she must board a ship bound for America.
Not willing to give up on a life in England, the only home she has ever known, Amelia decides marrying an English peer is her only option. Despite her mourning period she endeavors to trap one of London’s eligible bachelors in matrimony.
Lord Goldstone, a Scottish Duke, thwarts her carefully laid plans at every attempt. Sparks fly as the pair find themselves at odds with each other. Can they find a way to stop arguing long enough to explore their growing passion? Is it strong enough to make Amelia give up her English home after all?

Sexy Sunday Teaser #NA #Romance#SciFi

Here’s a little snippet from Rescue Me, my NA ms out on query.

He kisses me on my lips as soon as I open the door.
“Damn. Every time I see you, you take my breath away a little more,” he says.
My cheeks grow warm in seconds. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Princess.” He gives me a bunch of red roses and a Barbie doll dressed in a ball gown.
“Oh my God, Ty. You didn’t have to!” Tears fill my eyes at his romantic gesture.
“What happened?” He asks, shocked, “Are you allergic to the flowers?”
I shake my head. “It’s not the roses,” I say although it’s the first time I’ve ever received roses — and a doll — from a guy, “I’m just so touched. . .”
“I couldn’t find your doll,” he says apologetically when I stare at Barbie.
“It doesn’t matter. I love her.” I say while unwrapping Barbie. She doesn’t look at all like the one that drowned but she’s just as gorgeous and special because Ty bought her for me. Ty follows me inside the kitchen and waits for me while I fill a vase with water and ice cubes before popping the roses inside. I leave Barbie on the kitchen counter.
He holds me from behind the minute the roses are in the vase and presses tiny, hot kisses on my neck. “Missed me?” He asks.
“Yes,” I answer a little breathless.
He pulls me closer as his hands creep higher. He teases my nipples with his fingertips. “I missed you too,” he says.
“Is this your surprise?” I can’t resist asking. Because if it is then it certainly is a wonderful way to spend the rest of the day.
“No,” he groans, “every time I’m around you I lose track of my plans.”

While her high school classmates see a girl with a ready smile and good grades, Lacey spends her evenings seeking ways to save her family. On a get-cash-quick trip to the flea market, Lacey stumbles over a music box that seemingly begs her to take it home. She does, only to find it is inhabited by a gorgeous “genie.” He offers her a month of wishes, one per day, but there’s a catch. Each wish must be humanly possible.

Grant belongs to a league of supernatural beings, dedicated to serving humans in need. After two years of fulfilling the boring wishes of conventional teens, he is one assignment away from promotion to a challenging new role with more daring cases. Yet his month with Lacey is everything that he expects and nothing like he imagines. Lacey and Grant soon discover that the most difficult task of all might be saying goodbye.

Fun with Names – I Wish Blog Tour #WISHSHP

Please welcome super fabulous multi published author, Elizabeth Langston on my blog tour.

Today Elizabeth is going to tell us how she comes up with names for her characters.

Fun With Names

Picking names for characters in a book is a tough thing to do, especially since I try to avoid the names of people I know. I don’t want them to think that I’m basing a character on them.

I Wish, however, is full of characters named for specific people. (I doubt I ever do that again.) Here are the names and why I chose them.

Grant – Originally, I named my genie Grant for a weird reason. Genies “grant” wishes. It was just a place-holder until I learned him better and figured out what his name should be. But a couple of things convinced me to keep it. A friend of mine has a son named Grant, and he is really cute and nice. (I hope neither of them read this. 🙂 Then I looked up the meaning of the name and discovered that Grant means “great”. It was a perfect fit for the hero of I WISH.

Lacey – In my first draft of the book, the heroine’s name was Molly. But it never quite felt right. My heroine was determined, fiercely independent, and intensely loyal to the people she loved. That profile described my grandmother. So I renamed my heroine after Grandmother Lacey, and that felt exactly right.

Henry – I named Lacey’s brother after Prince Henry of Wales. Just because.

Eli – Lacey’s friend (and Henry’s soccer coach) is named after Eli Manning, the quarterback for the New York Giants. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi. The Manning family is practically royalty for Ole Miss alumni. (And, yes, I use the name Peyton in another book.)

Kimberley – Lacey’s best friend started life as Adriana. But I ended up not liking the character, so I completely rewrote her. When I did, I needed a new name. About this same time, the receptionist at my family physician’s office asked me to name a character after her, and there you go. We had our Kimberley.

Crystal – On the Social Security Administration’s “popular baby names” website (http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ ), I asked it to give me the Top 25 names for the year 1977 (approximately when Lacey’s mom would’ve been born.) Name #25 is Crystal.

Sara & Sean – the twins are named after my great-grandmother Sarah (but I dropped the “h”) and my nephew-in-law Sean (but an entirely different spelling.)

Finally, I’ll mention two very minor characters, Charlie and Norah. Those names will appear somewhere in every book series that I will ever write. Charlie was my nephew. Norah was my boss’s daughter. Both left us way too young. Charlie died at age 4; Norah, age 6. It’s just my little effort to honor their memories.

Watch out for a follow up post on I Wish and more info on Elizabeth.

Excerpt from Moving In #NA #Novella

I’m working on edits for book #2 in the Moving Series and thought I’d post a teaser from Book #1

Dean’s POV

There’s a note on the fridge when I get to my flat overlooking La Lucia’s famous white sand beach.

We need to talk. I will come over for dinner tonight.

Love,

Mom

My mother is shameless when it comes to breaking into my apartment. Every second of my day has to accounted for. My parents need to cut me some slack. People change—they’re always reminding me, so why the fuck does my mother keep looking for clues to suggest I might’ve slipped up?

I wonder what she and the old man have up come up with after reading the shit Ugly Betty posted. More charity work? No. It has to be something more serious.

My blood runs cold for a moment. I’ve always been perceptive when it comes to my parents, and this time I sense they’ve outdone themselves. Mom is particularly sensitive to what society thinks. She will go to any lengths to keep her reputation intact, and her ideas usually border on unreasonable.

Why does anyone have to take anything Ugly Betty says seriously? Sure, she’s amazingly popular in blogging circles in South Africa. But why the fuck do people pay any attention to the shit she posts? She’d had over a thousand comments the last time I checked her post. It’s like she posted pics of my hard, thick cock the way people were reading her blog.

I’ll find out soon enough.

The traffic’s eased up by the time I head out of La Lucia for the heart of the North Coast. Kwa-Zulu Natal is definitely the most laid back, beautiful place I’ve lived in. I love the anonymity of living here and being able to surf the waves before heading to campus every morning. The best part is the sunshine. Winter is almost nonexistent on the Kwa-Zulu Natal North Coast. People here don’t really care if you’re a celebrity or just a regular person minding your own business. They just let you be.

Unless they’re Lace Higgins.

“Arriving at destination,” my GPS says, cutting into my mental rehearsals of me shaking sense into Lace Higgins. I’ve pictured her with braces, unkempt, mud-colored hair, and garish makeup.

Lace lives in a pretty decent apartment complex near the only shopping center in Salt Rock. The beach isn’t too far off. In fact the complex is near enough for fine sea spray to drizzle on me when I get out my van. It’s a one-street town guaranteed to help anyone blend into obscurity. I bet her acid fingertips are the reason she has to live in a place where people give a shit about who she is and what she does for a living.

Lucky for me, security is pretty lax. I race up the stairs and pause outside her door. A split second before my knuckles can connect to door number eleven to knock, it swings open.

“Alison…dammit, you forgot…” The leggy blonde pauses after realizing I’m not Alison.

Her mouth drops open, and so does her satin robe.

Fuck. She’s as naked as the day she was born beneath the butter-yellow fabric. My cock hardens in seconds. She shivers slightly, and her nipples harden, and…I look down before she pulls the robe together… Her muff is shaved and so smooth I almost reach out and stroke her. Damn. There’s not an ounce of fat on her. Her tummy’s flat, her breasts full and ready to be tasted, and her skin’s a creamy white I could lick and bite until every inch of her was covered in little red marks.

“Show’s over, punk. Can I help you?” Green eyes flash blue murder at me while she knots the belt of her robe securely in place.

The acid in her voice is enough to soften my cock. “Maybe.” I can do acid too. “I’m looking for Lace Higgins.”

She gasps like I’ve proposed sex on the cold, hard floor. Her loose bun falls out of place, covering her face in fine, golden strands. She pushes the hair off her face and then looks me in the eye. “Why?”

“None of your business. This is between Lace and me.”

New Book Release #Release Day

My fab author friend has a book out today.

20141107-211147.jpg

And here’s what the book is about:

A surfer/beach bum is smitten by a woman he sees paddle surfing who is six feet-seven inches tall. But can his infatuation turn to love above see level?

Clayton Stoner is blonde, bronzed, hard bodied, beach bum/surfer living the life of a 31 year old Peter Pan in a tiny ocean side cottage near St. Augustine Florida. One calm Sunday, he sees a strikingly beautiful woman who is 6’7″ tall, taking paddle surfing lessons at the local surfers beach. He is immediately smitten, but unable to get her attention when he encounters her at a near-by convenience store, and again, later that day, as she is running along the beach where he is relaxing.
They finally connect when he is sent to do plumbing repair work at the beach cottage she is renting. She continues to spurn his friendly advances. It looks hopeless for him until fate intervenes. But can he find love with a woman nearly a foot taller than he is?

Hmm. I like. How about a sneak peek?

“A light offshore breeze did little to dry the sweat on our brows as we sat on the front porch of my beach cottage, transfixed by the surf. Our suits were still wet from our frustrating day trying to ride waves that wouldn’t form. Nothing dries in North Florida humidity except throats after a day of sun and surf. My buddy Smitty and I were several beers in before I finally broke the ice.
“So, Smitty, what do you do when you find your eyes are at tit level with a beautiful woman?”
“My eyes are always at tit level with women.”
“Asshole, I’m not talking about where your eyes are looking. I’m talking about height. What if your eyes were only as high as a woman’s breasts?”
“Are these breasts sagging down to her belly button?”
I made a cross with my fingers and held it up to him, hoping his flesh would burn. “No, in fact, they were small and pushing straight out. She was very trim.”
“If you had leaned forward, would you have got one nipple in each eye?”
“Stop it. I’m being serious here.”
“So am I. She could put your eye out.”
“That’s my beer you’re drinking,” I said. “You could at least give me some decent advice.”
He rubbed his chin as if it would make him smarter. Smitty only thought with his cock, and I was glad he didn’t whip it out and rub it for insight .
“Dude, they’re all the same height lying down. And a tall one can wrap her legs around you twice. What’s your problem?”
I huffed and shook my head. “Smitty, if they ever cut your head open, nothing but pussy would fall out.”
“Okay, Stoner, I’ve got a half a beer left, and then I got to go. The mullet are running, and I want to come down tonight to do some fishing. Are you with me?”
“No. I’ve got an early job tomorrow.”
“Would you mind if I parked in your driveway then?”
“No problem.”
“I promise I’ll be extra quiet if I see a couple of legs hanging out the window.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Dude, if you get that woman into your bedroom, there’s no way she’s gonna fit on your bed without hanging her legs out the window.”
Smitty had a point. My beach cottage was pretty small.
“So where did you meet this beauty?” Smitty asked, catching a belch.
“Well, we haven’t really met yet. I was in line in front of her down at the Circle K earlier today. I turned around, and there I was with my nose in her breasts.”
“So what’s her name, where does she live, and is she available?”
I shrugged .”

Wow. Sounds like an awesome summer read. I’m definitely adding this one to my TBR pile.

She managed to get into her
apartment while keeping a curious JJ from escaping.  The fluffy white
cat purred and rubbed himself against her ankles.

“Hey, bud.  Did
you miss me?”  Kaley went to the cupboard and pulled out a few
Whiskas treats for him.  She looked around her small apartment and
suddenly, she didn’t want to be there alone.  â€śI’ll be right back.”

She didn’t bother putting
on shoes before closing her door behind her.  Sean answered his door
and smiled at the sight of her.

“What can I do for you,
neighbor?”

“I…”  This was
stupid.

“So, what brings you
over here?”

I
just…”  Kaley’s good mood vanished.

His smile
softened.  â€śFirst Christmas since Gale left?”

She took a deep breath and
blew it out of her nose.  â€śIt’s stupid, I know.”

Sean shook his
head.  â€śNot at all.  I know the feeling.  I
wasn’t engaged, mind you, but my first holiday after my girlfriend left I was a
wreck.  We’d been together four years.”

“I’m sorry.”  She
looked at the ground.  â€śWhat happened?”

He cocked his head to the
side.  â€śI was just about to have a rum and eggnog.  Want
one?”

She was tempted to turn him
down, but curiosity got the better of her.  â€śSure.”

He held the door opened
wider so she could get in and directed her to the couch.  â€śIt was
your typical breakup.  We were young and life had other plans for
us.”

She watched as he mixed the
drinks and brought them over.  â€śThanks.”  She took a sip
and he took a long swallow of his drink.  â€śAnyway, it wrecked me when
she left.”

“What did you do?”

“I moved
here.”  He smiled.

Kaley
frowned.  â€śThat worked?  It helped?”

“Not even a little
bit.  The only thing that helps is time.”

She couldn’t help the
depressed look that took over her face.  â€śFive years, eh?”

Sean
laughed.  â€śIt’s been that long, but it didn’t take that
long.  I’ve had a few other girlfriends since, I just haven’t found
anyone else I want to settle down with, that’s all.”  He raised an
eyebrow at her glass.  â€śWant another one?”

“Please.”

“So where’s your party at
tonight?”

“Mel’s boss is throwing a
bash for their office. He rented the Rex Hall.”

“Cool.”

Kaley noticed him glancing
at the clock on the wall.  â€śDo you have something to
do?”  She turned toward the door as someone unlocked it from the
outside and he stood.

“Sean!”  The dark
haired woman dropped her duffle bag and ran into his open
arms.  Kaley watched dumbfounded as he hugged her
close.  He had a girlfriend.

“I was getting
worried.”  He took her coat from her and hung it up.

“My bus was
delayed.  There was a crash on the highway and we got caught behind
all the traffic.  I don’t think it was too bad.  I mean,
there were ambulances and stuff, but the cars looked to be in not bad shape
when we were finally able to go by.”

“And you didn’t think to
phone?”

She
shrugged.  â€śOoh! Are you having rum and eggnog without
me?”  The woman finally turned her attention to
Kaley.  â€śSince Sean has zero manners, I’m Reese, by the way.”

“Um, Kaley.”

“Let me
guess.  He didn’t tell you I was coming?”  She took the
drink Sean handed her and settled on the cough beside Kaley.  â€śAnd he
says I’m forgetful.  You’re getting old, big brother.”

He scoffed.  â€śAnd
you get more immature the more years you put behind you.”

“Mom’s going to flip when
she hears you finally have a girlfriend.  It’s about time you got
over that stupid bitch.”

“Reese!”

“Well, what?  By
the moons, she was.  None of us could figure out what you saw in
her.”

“You were sixteen when we
split.  Don’t tell me you gave a shit.”

Reese pounded back her
drink.  â€śOf course I cared.  How many big brothers do I
have?”

Sean rolled his
eyes.  â€śFour.”

“Right.  But you
were always my favorite.”  She skipped back to her knee high leather
boots, slipped them on, and shrugged on her coat.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m meeting
Heather.”  She gave him a peck on the cheek.  â€śI have my
key.  Don’t wait up.”

“Just remember I’m leaving
at eight tomorrow morning.  With or without
you.”

“Yeah,
yeah.”  Reese grinned.  â€śI missed you.”

“I missed you
too.  Brat.”

She closed the door with a
wave at Kaley.

“She’s, uh… she’s one of
those high energy people.”  Sean smiled and went to refill their
drinks.

“No kidding.  I
had no idea you had a sister.  Or three brothers for that matter.”

“What about you?”

Kaley shook her
head.  â€śOnly child.  Your mom and dad?”

“Both alive and running the
farm.  You?”

“My parents died when I was
fifteen.  Drunk driver.  I went to live with Mel and her
folks.”

“But you don’t do Christmas
with them?”

“They’re not around since
they retired.  Mel gets on a flight tomorrow
to join them in Mexico tomorrow morning.  They
invite me every year, I just… Christmas needs snow.  You know?”

He grinned.  â€śI
agree.”

Kaley found her gaze moving
to his mouth.  He had a great smile.  Had they
really been
living next to each other for almost six years?  How had she never
noticed?

“What?”

“Nothing.  I was
just thinking that I can’t believe we’ve been neighbors all this time and we
know nothing about each other.”

His smile
softened.  â€śYeah.  I guess that’s
life.  Everyone’s too busy.”

She looked at her
watch.  â€śShit.  I have to go get ready.”

Sean stood and walked her
to the door.

“So, you’re just home alone
tonight?”  She looked up into his dark green eyes.

“Seems like it.”

“I was just thinking… Mel
is bringing a date tonight and I’m going to be the third wheel.  Want
to come along?”

“I don’t think…”

“Come on.  I’ll
owe you one.  There’s this guy that works there that always gets
drunk and hits on me.  You can pretend to be my
boyfriend.”  Sweet mother of fuck.  Had she actually just
suggested this?  She was thirty four years old for shit’s
sakes.  Her face turned a deep shade of
red.  â€śSorry.  That’s so highschool.  I’m just
going to leave before I make myself sound any more stupid.  Thanks
for the drinks.”

Kaley rushed out of his
apartment and back into hers.  Good god!  How many eggnogs
had she had?
