Teaser from My #NA MS on query

Crew waves his beer bottle at me. “I know you better than that. You took her license plate. Spill it.”
“Read my brain, Crew.” I half close my eyes and lean as far back into the couch as I can. I’m not in the mood for beer. Mine lies untouched on the coffee table.
“You’ll have to tell us everything sooner or later, bro.” Crew takes off his t shirt. “One thing I’ll bet my life on is you’re into her.”
“Into her? When are you going to grow up?” I ask.
“You’ve never rescued a girl twice,” Connor points out. “Neither one of us has.”
“You guys are making a big deal out of a stupid co-incidence,” I tell them.
“Co-incidence, my ass,” Hayden half screams.
“Our line of work doesn’t allow for co-incidences,” I remind them, “we’re in the business of saving lives — we’re not living in some fantasy.”
“Meeting hot chicks isn’t a fantasy,” Crew says, “It’s a reality.”
“You can meet hot chicks in a club,” I tell Crew.
He shakes his head. “Where in our contracts does it state that we can’t fall for our rescues?” He asks me.
I shake my head. “It doesn’t. It’s just the way I feel — Business and pleasure aren’t meant to mix.”

Excerpt from Rescue Me, #NA #SciFi out on#Query

Oh fuck. This is the end of me. I close my eyes and pretend this isn’t happening. Oh God why can’t Superman be real — just this once. If only he’d appear out of nowhere and pull this smelly bastard off me. A bike roars in the distance. I focus on its sound and imagine Superman is on that bike. Within seconds the sound of the bike is the only thing my mind holds onto the fucktard’s hands tighten around my waist. His sewer breath clogs my nostrils.
Forget him. Superman will rescue me. Where do I come up with candy floss shit for dreams? Hello? I’m about to be eaten by a bunch of twat waffles.
Crazy thoughts race through my head as I squeeze my eyes tight and clench my hands into fists bracing myself for the impact of his mouth on mine while at the same time trying to shut him out altogether. Somehow the shutting out part works. The leader’s hands loosen on my waist and his pungent alcohol breath gives way to fresh sea air.
“Fuck!” He gasps suddenly before the sound of bones breaking sickens me to the pit of my tummy.
Instinct forces my eyes open. We’re surrounded by a group of bikers with Harley’s so shiny the moonlight reflecting off of them blinds me temporarily. One of the bikers punches the leader on his jaw. The others circle the remaining would-be attackers.
“I didn’t touch her.” The leader winces.
“Liar,” mysterious Biker says in a deep voice, “Didn’t your mama teach you to always tell the truth?”
My spine tingles at the sound of his voice.
“I warned you about stepping on my ground, Skull.”
My ground? This sounds like a movie script gone real life. To me it means one thing. I found Superman. Okay. Technically he found me. Unless this is a dream. And none of this is really happening., Shock probably stupefied me. Or I’m dead and I’ve stepped away from my body…I shut my eyes and pinch myself. Fuck. That hurt. No, I’m not imagining any of this. The bikers are really here and one of them is teaching Skull a lesson he’ll never forget.
“Now why don’t you take your pack of vermin rats and get the hell out of here.” Superbiker suggests, “unless you’re hungry for seconds.”
Skull and his gang don’t need to be told twice. They disappear into the shadows so fast nobody would have guessed they were really here.
“Did he hurt you?” Superbiker asks me.
I’m stunned at how quickly my wish was granted. I asked for Superman and I got a Superbiker. My chest tightens. If only all my wishes were granted so easily…
Warm hands cup my face. I catch a glimpse of a shiny bracelet on his right hand. His left thumb is partially covered with a band aid.
“Hey? Are you okay?”
Superbiker’s talking to me. Say something, Lana. “Yeah…I’m fine.”
The woodsy scent of his aftershave and cologne captivates my senses. He’s pushed the visor of his helmet up but a clump of clouds block out the moonlight making it impossible for me to even catch a glimpse of my savior.
“You’re new here,” he states.
“You can tell just by looking at me?” Damn he’s got skills.
“No. Locals know better than to hang out on the beach at this part of the night.”
I look away somewhat ashamed not to have figured that out when I noticed the beach was abandoned.
He steps away from me. “You shouldn’t hang out here this part of night,” he says, “tell me where you live and we’ll escort you home.” He opens the car door for me.
“What’s your name?” I blurt.
He stops. Perhaps my question’s caught him off guard. “Why?”
I shrug. “It’d be nice to know.”
He leaves me standing outside my car and jumps on his bike. “Get in the car. My boys and I don’t have all night to wait on spoilt little rich girls who have nothing better to do than invite trouble upon themselves.”
Strangely his words sting. “I’m not a …” Oh why bother. I get inside my car and roll down the window. For a moment there I’d assumed he’d really cared when he’d asked me if I’d been hurt. I guess whoever my mysterious biker rescuer is — he’s just doing his job. My burgeoning hope and dreams of romance take a back seat.
The bikers escort me home. Superbiker pulls up beside me when I stop outside the gate and gestures for me to give him my keys. He unlocks the gate and gestures for me to park. I roll down the window and wait for him to leave before jumping off. Instead he pauses next to me while reversing out the driveway and lifts up the visor. Invisible waves of his aftershave engulf me. Superbiker’s tall, broad shouldered and not even the darkness can hide his pert ass.
“Thank you,” I tell him.
“For roughing up your haters?” He sounds amused. “If it wasn’t for spoilt brats like you, I’d be unemployed.”
I wish I could see his face before slapping him.
“Whatever,” I murmur.
“You’re welcome,” he replies sarcastically. “Tell you what, princess. If you can find me in the daylight I’ll tell you my name.”
My deceitful heart goes wild. “Deal,” I reply before I can stop myself.
Challenges are definitely my thing. I’ll find him all right even if the sound of his voice and the smell of his cologne and aftershave is all I have to go

Guest Post – Author Sheri Velarde

First off I want to thank Sheritha for letting me stop by today! She is such a doll to invite me over to explain the inspiration behind my latest release, Looted.

I have loved Greek and Roman mythology since I was a child, same goes for art of almost any kind. And that is the very beginning of my latest release, Looted, which is going to become a series entitled Gods Behaving Badly. This series is my imaging what the gods and goddesses of old are doing in today’s world, a world where no one believes in them anymore. I am hoping that these stories will not only be fun for me to write, but also fun for my readers.

Now Looted is the first in the series and it follows Sophia, once called Aphrodite, in today’s world. The inspiration for this particular story came about from two different sources, one was the fact that I was reading a lot of real life art heist stories at the moment, from Rembrandt thefts to museums in Turkey being looted of their goods. That’s when an art heist theme started to sounds good to me. And let’s face it, if gods and goddesses lived today I would assume they would want to live a certain lifestyle and not do a lot of work for said lifestyle. I was also inspired by Robert de Niro and Al Pacino movie Heat. In it Pacino plays a detective and de Niro a theif. At one point they sit together and have a very amiable conversation and you can see the mutual respect for each other. And that is where the second part of Looted came together. Two people on opposite sides of the law with such a mutual attraction that they can’t ignore it. Sure, Sophia and Detective Stoker take it further than Pacino and de Niro did (sadly they did not even make out in the movie), but the same idea that people on opposite sides of the law can still have a spark between them.

So that’s really it, Looted is a combination of my love of mythology and art, combined with my love of movies and bam… art heist romance with the goddess of love! Makes sense to me! And as a little celebration of this release, I am having a giveaway of one of my previous Secret Cravings Publishing titles, Music and Awakening! One lucky commenter today will win!

Blurb:
Sophia longs for the days when she was worshipped as a goddess and celebrated for her glory. Now she hides in plain sight and does what she must to keep the lifestyle she is accustomed. She has never been close to discovery until one New York City Detective, Bruce Stoker, enters the picture. Now all that she is and has done could come out into the open and destroy everything. She should disappear, but there is something different about this man that draws her to him.

Detective Bruce Stoker has never had an unsolved case, but there is something different about these art heists. Money is taken, but art is given to museums. Strange. If he can find the beautiful woman who seems to be the common link, then everything should be simple. That is what he thought at least until he met the gorgeous suspect in question.

Excerpt

Bruce sat in the lounge. Another night, another expensive bar. He didn’t think his NYPD salary would take much more of this side investigation, but he knew that he was on the right track. Now he just needed to find his mystery beauty, then the real investigation could begin. He had sent out feelers to every host of the finer bars, restaurants and hotels in town, hoping to find a woman to match the description he had. Needless to say there were a lot of gorgeous women in Manhattan and he had spent more time and money than he cared to think about chasing models and actresses.

This was his last tip and his wallet thanked him. If this didn’t pan out, well then back to the drawing board. The fellows back at the station were already making fun of him for searching for a “Model Ring of Thieves,” but they all also knew his hunches always paid off. Could this be the first time he was actually wrong?

Suddenly he felt a hot tingle running down his spine, something more than his “spidey sense” the guys joked about. This was a first. His entire being seemed to be heating up from the inside. It was not unpleasant, but it certainly left him feeling confused. He turned around and saw her walking into the lounge. He had seen the best-looking women Manhattan had to offer over the past few weeks, but none of them could compare to this creature. As he stared, she turned toward him and gave a start, a look of surprise quickly passing over her face before she resumed her beautiful perfection. This was the woman he had been searching for.

Bio:
Sheri Velarde, who sometimes uses the pen name Kelly Ryan, lives in New Mexico and grew up with a fascination for all things that “go bump in the night”, so it is no wonder that she turned to writing paranormal romance. In her spare time, she fancies herself a cryptozoologist and loves to paranormal related outings, searching for things that might not really exist. She is an avid exerciser and gets some of her best ideas while on runs. She also has a bit of a wild side, which only leads to inspiration for her writing.

Being an avid reader since an early age, she has wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember. She has been writing all her life, but only recently started to actually try to pursue her dream of writing for a living.

She is constantly putting out new material, so it is best to keep up with her on her website.

Sneak Peek at Sean’s Sweetheart

Hi Everyone,

I am currently reading Sean’s Sweetheart by my friend, Allie.

Here’s what the book is about:

Sean has spent five years cleaning up his life. He’s shoved his past behind him and built a profitable business in the town’s most popular dance club. Falling in love with a college sophomore wasn’t in his plans. But, from the moment he rescued Talia, she brings out his every protective instinct. He tries to resist getting involved on a personal level. Talia’s persistence, however, is stronger than his will.

Despite just ending an abusive relationship, Talia finds an instant connection with a man unlike any she’s dated before. Older, tattooed, and totally inappropriate for her, Talia couldn’t keep Sean off her mind, especially once he calls her “sweetheart” in that deep drawl of his.

When Talia is in danger, they discover just how strong their relationship is. Can Sean and his sweetheart make things last when horrors from their pasts come back to haunt them and family seems determined to keep them apart?

It’s every bit as interesting and romantic as the blurb. Please check out Allie’s website:

Excerpt From My Latest MS

“How exactly is an individual’s genes enhanced?” I ask her.
Cora changes the slide yet again. “Prior to my spying I believed genetic enhancements occurred naturally meaning people were born this way. However nature didn’t have a hand in this. The process begins before fertilization. Willing individuals supply their eggs and sperm to undercover labs for experiments and altered genetic coding. Once fertilization is successful the female is implanted with the genetically enhanced egg.” She looks at me. “You were created this way, Mr. Daniels.”

Cover Reveal – His Cemetery Doll

A fabulous Hello to Everyone,

I have a cover reveal by Breathless Press Author, Brantwijn Serrah.

Before we have a look at the cover, let’s take a look at what the book is about.

His Cemetery Doll

There’s a woman in the graveyard.

Conall Mackay never put stock in ghost stories. Not even after thirteen years serving as the cemetery keeper in the village of Whitetail Knoll. But things change. Now, his daughter is dreaming of a figure among the tombstones. The grounds are overrun by dark thorns almost faster than Con can clear them. White fog and gray ribbons creep up on him in the night, and a voiceless beauty beckons him from the darkest corners of the graves.

When the world he knows starts to unravel, Conall might finally be forced to believe.

Excerpt:

He hadn’t slept long before he heard sounds from down in the kitchen below.
“Shyla!” he called gruffly. “Weren’t you heading into town?”
No answer came from below, but the sounds of pots clanging told him his daughter toyed about down there. Perhaps she’d decided not to leave him after all and taken it into her head to now re-organize the house, since he’d so clearly wanted her to stay out of the cemetery. With a low groan, Conall rolled out of bed and stepped out into the hall.
“Shyla!” he called again, coming to the head of the stairs. If she had stayed home, she could at least do it without making a lot of noise.
“Shyla, I—”
He staggered then, as the hallway dimmed. Afternoon light flickered strangely, lightning cracking a dismal sky outside, and in the space of time afterward everything else darkened. Conall darted a glance around him as the house fell into shadow.
From the top of the stairwell, he saw the first whispering tendrils of white fog.
The heat of adrenaline shot through his limbs. Conall stumbled back into his bedroom, even as the fog pursued. His gaze shot to the window as the last gray light of day faded away and eerie darkness replaced it, like an eclipse sliding over the sun.
More cold mists veiled the glass, dancing and floating. Trembling overtook him as he spun to find another escape.
He froze, finding himself face-to-face with the broken mask of the cemetery doll.
“You—” he gasped. His breath came out white as the fog enveloped them both, leaving a space of mere inches between them, so he could still see her expressionless face. Gray ribbons wound and curled through the air around him.
“Who are you?” he asked.
The doll stared up at him. He sensed her searching, looking into his eyes even though hers remained covered. She held him there with her unseen gaze, until her cool, cold hand came up to touch his bare chest.
Conall let out a low breath. He closed his eyes, and a shudder of strange ease rippled through his body. The cool pads of her fingers ran down his sternum, to his navel. The silky ribbons brushed along his side.
Then he noticed her other hand. She lifted it up, to her own chest, and she held something tightly in her fingers: Shyla’s stuffed dog.
“I made that…for my daughter,” he whispered. The woman with the broken mask tilted her head down toward the small toy, studying it. For a fraction of a second, her fingers appeared to tighten around it. She returned her gaze to him, then, and the toy fell from her grip into the fog, forgotten.
“Wait—” he said, but she brought her other hand up to his chest to join the first, and he recognized eagerness in the way she pressed her icy skin against his. Her face tilted to him, and then came her lips again, ivory and flawless.
“I—” Conall breathed. “I…don’t understand…”
Her fingers slid up, around his neck, but he pulled away.
“No, this…this can’t real. I’m asleep. I must be.”
Gray ribbons danced, pulling him back to her, and she stroked his face. He sucked in a breath at her touch and found his own hand coming up to brush hers.
“You’re so cold,” he said. “Like stone…but…”
Her cool touch thrilled him; it made his skin tingle and the heat of his own body sing. Her perfect flesh did, in fact, prove soft under his hands, as if the contact with his worn calluses infused cold ivory with yearning. She caressed his cheek, and Conall leaned into it. Before he could stop himself, he bowed his head to her and kissed her frozen lips.
